SCIENCE
Year 8 continued with their Physics course and studied sound. We talked about amplitude, frequency and how these parameters affect the loudness and pitch of sound. Also, we talked about devices which can convert sounds into pictures, called oscilloscopes. The students practised reading graphs produced by those oscilloscopes, distinguishing between loud and soft or high and low sounds. It was great to see how they made predictions about how the graph will change as some sound parameters change. Well done!
Year 10 worked on theories of acids and bases. What is meant by acting as an acid or a base? The class also had a revision of making salts. Well done Shahzaib and Tigran who managed to get a high score in our Making salts quiz.
Year 11 studied Physical chemistry, in particular, exothermic and endothermic reactions. We talked about what happens to the energy of reaction and why sometimes this energy is taken in or given out as the reaction goes. The students actively prepare for their final Mock exam, practising exam papers which include questions from all topics studied in the course. Good luck and keep it up!

What an intense and a serious week in Primary. In Year 7, students did a test about “le comparatif`’. They had to write properly sentences using the superiority, inferiority of equality. Some of them did a very good test. However, it wasn’t so easy because they also had to pay attention to the gender of the sentence if the subject was masculine of feminine.
In Year 8 and in Year 9, students wrote a test about ‘masculine/feminine; singular/plural and comparative’. It was hard and very serious but our kids are very smart and when they want to succeed, they are able to do their best. The results were very good ! The test is not just a way to trick the student but to realize where they are and if everything was clear or not.
In Year 10, we finished our topic about “how to be healthy” and we started a new subject : Media, Tv and film. They had to match differents sentences with the good picture. After that we learnt how to write properly the verbs pouvoir, devoir and vouloir. They asked what is their favourite tv show or if they watch something special on Tv. Finally, they had to write about their favourite TV show.
