YEAR 1

In maths this week we have been working on capacity, learning to use liters and milliliters, alongside practicing fractions in halves and quarters, and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. In science we have been labelling the human body and started learning the names of more complex body parts, such as internal organs.
In English we have been writing our own stories based on our favourite toys or pets, inspired by the book 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We have also continued to work on writing our kindness notes for our class 'Kindness box', to encourage teamwork and friendly behaviour.

YEAR 2

As excellent learning continues in the Year 2 classroom, this week was even more extraordinary; here is why…

This week Valentine’s Day was a topic of many discussions. Contrary to popular believe, this day is not just for those in love, but for those who enjoy the company of friends and little acts of kindness to help someone smile. Year 2 students contributed to a Valentine’s Day Mail box, by adding their own hand made special messages to friends in school.

PE has once again resumed lessons at the PE hall, giving a chance for students to practice physical skills in a large, built for running, hall. Year 2 enjoys these classes together with year 3.

Ski lessons have also been added to student’s weekly routine; Friday mornings for the next several weeks will include an outing to the local ski hill where students are encouraged to participate in learning how to ski with local, English speaking ski instructors.

Next week begins our countdown for the last five days before the February school break. Students will use this time to complete all units started this term, bringing home evidence of their great learning and excellent work.

Until next week, wishing all a happy weekend!
