YEAR 1

This week in science we planted vegetables in our school garden patch, learnt about their growth process and how to take care of them. In maths we continued to work on telling the time with more confidence: half-past and o'clock. Today the children were introduced to quarter past. We made our own clocks with the focus on half-past, o'clock, quarter past and in preparation for the introduction of quarter to. We also began a diary recording the different times of the main events in our daily schedule. In English we continued to practice our letter formation and proportions, while playing a variety of our favourite class phonic awareness games, alongside introducing some new ones.

YEAR 2

Year 2 worked hard this week to complete mid-term assessments! Everyone rose to the challenge of Reading Comprehension and Maths Tests. Each child did their very best and we are very proud of them! Following on from our school trip to the zoo, we continued to learn about animals and habitats. The children learned new vocabulary such as endangered, captivity and extinct. They researched interesting facts to complete a factfile about an animal. In Maths, we are beginning to master division skills! Year 2 love our maths wizard game where they need to recall tables quickly before their opponent. Everyone is working hard to improve their handwriting and presentation of work. Year 2 enjoy a well-deserved rest this weekend!
