Dear Parents,

It has been a fun packed first week back after the midterm break, with the start of after school clubs and Book Week! Children have thoroughly enjoyed story time with teachers across the primary phase. They have made and decorated their own book marks, designed book covers, enjoyed dressing up as storybook characters and have been busy with the adults in turning the classroom door into a scene from the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. To top it off, children visited nurse Alina where they had their weight taken and height measured, hair, skin and nails checked. EYFS enjoyed their visit to the nurse!

In language and literacy, we have learned the “Gg” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter, singing the song ‘The water gurgles down the drain’ and identifying things beginning with ‘Gg’.

In Numeracy, we have continued looking at measures, but this time we focused on weight. Children have been able to distinguish between heavy and light objects, have enjoyed using balancing scales and look at readings on a kitchen scale.

Our new topic for this half term is ‘Travel and transport’. Children have looked at how we travel daily, as well as how we travel to our home countries and when going on holiday. They have also enjoyed learning about the different forms of transport.

Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend!
