Dear Parents,

Children have been having fun with some beautiful new toys that they were gifted by a parent. Every morning they play with something different, practise being responsible by carefully packing them away and are really good at taking turns. They have also loved getting creative with modelling plastercine into flat breads, pizzas, volcanoes, butterflies,…Thank you Ana for the books and ‘The three little pigs’ story telling props you have kindly given us.

In language and literacy, we have continued recapping our phonic sounds learned, reviewing High Frequency words, and reading simple sentences by sounding out words in the sentences. During our Numeracy lessons this week we have been revisiting 2D and 3D shapes for the benefit of our classmates that joined us more recently. We were able to note that 2D shapes are flat, and also looked at the faces of 3D shapes which were actually made out of 2D shapes (A tricky concept for some children!).

During our topic lessons this week Children have been wowed by Olympic greats and they were particularly interested in athletes from their home countries. Everyone loved watching rhythmic gymnastics, especially the girls. We also watched videos of pole vaulting, high jump, the hurdles, as well as our amazing para-olympians. After learning about different Olympic and sporting activities, we have continued with our junk modelling tasks. Daniel has completed his robot, the girls have made beautiful colourful butterflies, while Kian has made a volcano and a butterfly with help.

Everyone is really excited about our trip to the Moscow Zoo today. In preparation for how we should behave to ensure everyone is safe during our trip, we spent some time at the park with Year 1. It was a fun-packed outing! We will tell you all about our trip to the zoo next week!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
