Dear Parents,

Outdoor fun this week has included our boys looking for buried treasure, the opening of the EYFS Bank and Ice Cream Shop, as well as our girls bonding with secondary girls and bringing them over to the EYFS play area where drawings of unicorns and princesses were ‘commissioned’. There has also been some great construction work with our wooden blocks, all built has high as possible so that they can come crashing down! This has meant lots of advice on how to keep safe so we do not hurt ourselves and others. The children in EYFS have been exceptionally active; zooming around on their bikes, running about in the wooded area, up and down the climbing frame, (hanging on upside down like cheeky little monkeys) playing on the slides, leaping into puddles if they had their wellies on, while some girls just enjoyed the quiet and calm of drawing under the gazebo.

In language and literacy, we have been recapping our phonic sounds learned and incidentally looking at diagraphs ‘ee’ and ‘ai’ long vowel sounds to help us read and write words and sentences. During our Numeracy lessons this week we have recapped counting to 20, extending the children who need a challenge to count up to 50, even 100 for some individuals. We have also looked at addition using pictures.

During our topic lessons we have planted pepper seeds outdoors in the ‘garden patch’ and have been watering them regularly. Before planting our pepper seeds, we removed all the weeds from the area, so our plants can grow strong and healthy, as we learned that the weeds would take the water, nutrients and sunlight that our plants need to grow. We have also been busy completing our 3D life cycle of a butterfly before we start our new unit of learning in topic next week. It has been a busy week!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

MUSIC

Nursery and Reception were learning a new song “Cobbler, Cobbler mend my shoe”. The students learned the lyrics by playing the game in a circle, and sang the song in unison. We added actions that helped us learn the text faster. The students worked hard on the rhythm of this song, which helped them to play the accompaniment.
