Dear Parents,
With the Spring sunshine, we have also had lots of rain and our girls enjoyed taking walks outside with their umbrellas, while the rest of us just put on the hoods of our jackets during the light drizzles. Outdoor fun has included having a go at table tennis which has been set up for the older children, feeding the birds and some Junk Modelling with children making robots this week, but with plans to make houses, rockets, vases of flowers, animals…So please keep on sending in any recyclable materials that we can use.
In language and literacy, we have learned the “Vv” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter, singing the song ‘Drive Vic’s van…’ and identifying things beginning with ‘Vv’. We have also continued writing simple sentences and reading them back.
During our Numeracy lessons this week we have continued building on counting to 20 using Diennes equipment to see how many Tens and how many Ones make up our numbers. We also began doing simple addition using the part whole model and pictorial representation.
During our topic lessons about ‘Living Things’ children made plastercine butterflies linked to the Life Cycle of a Butterfly. We then focused on what seeds and plants need to grow and planted a range of different seeds, watering them every day and checking if they have started to grow. We also visited Miss Holly’s class to observe the seeds planted by Year 3 about 3 weeks ago- all have sprouted and many are quite tall. Children also observed the plants on the window sill which get plenty of sunshine, warmth and are watered once a week. Thank you Miss Holly in Year 3!
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

MUSIC
Nursery and Reception have been learning a new song ‘Grand Old Duke of York”. We have been practicing to march together in the class. The students performed another new song “ Sailor Went to Sea” with great pleasure. We added some percussion music instruments to practice with the beat of this song.
