ART

Year 1 made a butterfly symmetry paper plate craft this week. Children folded the paper in half, then drew the shape of a butterfly on one side and cut it out. Then they coloured their butterflies with their own design and we put it on a long string to hang.

With Year 2 we talked about the symbols of War and Remembrance. The red poppy, or a field of red poppies, is a symbol of remembrance and a hope for a peaceful future. Students made a poppy field as a way to learn about this. We used watercolours for the background and once the watercolours were dry, we cut out and stuck on the red poppies.

Year 3 are learning about symmetry this week. Using a grid, the children drew a butterfly on one side and repeated its symmetry on the other side. They then used warm colours for the butterfly parts and cool colours for the background or vice versa.

With Year 4 we learnt to draw the tulips in different positions and how to place the composition of our flowers on a piece of paper.
