Year 3

Precious Pet Day in year 3 was spectacular! The class brought their pets to school and drew them for art and then took on the challenging task of measuring their different parts. Finally, using lots of adjectives and a simile, everyone wrote a description of their fluffy friends. “It was so much fun having our pets in class,” said both Liza’s. Here is Vera’s description.

Hello, my name is Vera and I want to tell you about my fabulous, favourite, fluffy toy. Her name is Opuekpa. She is as small as my mum’s little cushion. Her eyes are as black as the night and she is so cute. Her body is a type of ginger colour. She has a little mouth and a little small tooth. She is my favourite cuddly toy.

A big thank you my lovely students and parents for being superstars this week. You have all worked so hard! 10 house points each.

Year 6

What a fun week we had in Year 6, even from afar! To start off, we solidified our learning in maths by adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. We had the opportunity to enhance our understanding of place value and number patterns through a variety of interactive activities. In English, we read some short stories along with some poetry, looking at the authors use of language. The students also wrote some very interesting stories using a picture prompt. In Topic, we learned about the tragedies of the Holocaust and the lifestyle of one girl who fell victim, Anne Frank. The students had the opportunity to research this person and learn about the struggles associated with her life during World War II. In Sciences, we continued learning about light and sound and the various properties that encompass this. We even had Art this week where students were able to make some amazing pieces with their Upper KS2 counterparts. Lots of hard work! Well done!

Year 5

Year 5 have been enjoying the use of teams this week and many children have actively participated in Maths and English lessons live every day. In English, we retold the story Anastasia and then used this text to find antonyms, synonyms and to investigate different types of sentences. In Maths, we have been improving our ability to multiply and divide large numbers. Some children have made excellent progress with dividing 4 or 5-digit numbers by a 2-digit number. In science, we have been exploring the properties of materials using the discussion feature on Canvas.

Year 4

The second week of e-learning has ended, and what a busy week it was! Again, we joined Mr. Ward’s video conferences every day during the week. In English, we focussed on how to use comparative and superlative adjectives. In Maths, we practised dividing 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, with remainders. In Science, we looked at circuits, and how they should be connected to make a light bulb work. Our Topic lesson focussed on ‘The Swinging Sixties’. We discovered that young people of that era cherished three values: peace, love and universal brotherhood.
