Year 2
Wow! What a great week! We had full attendance at most online lessons and everyone has logged into SeeSaw to check their new activities. SeeSaw is very useful because the children can leave voice comments with their work and they can also ask questions if they need to clarify anything about our lessons or activities. Well done Year 2 and thank you to all parents for your support! This week Year 2 learned about 2d and 3d shapes. We went on a shape hunt around our house, finding interesting objects in the shape of cylinders, cubes, spheres and even triangular prisms! Year 2 enjoyed sharing their discoveries with their classmates. In English lessons, we learned about Verbs. Verbs are action words. Year 2 can find verbs in sentences and we are learning to use powerful verbs. Instead of saying ‘I ran after the dog’, we could say ‘I sprinted’ or ‘I dashed’. These are more interesting verbs and help us to improve our sentences. Year 2 created fantastic sentences using these ‘powerful’ verbs! Our reading groups are making great progress, it is wonderful to see how much the children enjoy stories. Year 2 created beautiful artwork for the EIS Easter Art competition. All entries need to be submitted by Monday morning, so you still have time to finish your entry this weekend. Good luck everyone
Year One
This week, we started patterning. We found patterns, made patterns, read them, filled in the missing parts to patterns, and even started looking at number patterns. In English, we read a few books about hens. We learned about a chickens life cycle and made instructions for how to paint eggs. In Art, we made some bunnies out of toilet paper rolls and some of us decorated eggs. Lastly, we took a look at Spring celebrations including Holi and Songkran.
