YEAR 3

In Year 3 this week we have been working hard. In Science, students have been conducting their own hardness tests on a range of different locally found rocks. For these tests they have been experimenting with the Mohs hardness test. This test is a scratch test whereby students can distinguish the hardness levels by which implement (a finger nail, knife, coin etc) makes a visible mark on the surface. In Topic we have been painting our ushabti figurines and identifying how the landscape of Egypt gave the ancient Egyptians the necessary resources for life and protection from other ancient civilisations. In English we have looked at finding synonyms for a range of different adjectives and recognizing that synonyms can help us to express ourselves better in writing, and in Maths we have been looking at solving 2- and 3-digit multiplication problems using different methods.
