YEAR 1
This week in English we have continued reading the story of Rainbow Fish. We have thought about how Rainbow Fish felt at different times in the story, we have identified the beginning, middle and end of the story and we have spoken about our favourite part and why. At the end of the week, we wrote sentences about pictures from the story.
In Maths we have been learning about 2D shapes and their properties. We made shape animals and noted the numbers of each shape that we used. We have also sorted shapes into a Venn diagram. We have also looked at symmetry and making symmetrical patterns.
In Science we used our sense of taste to describe different flavours. We liked the taste of the dark chocolate best but didn’t really like the lemon! In Topic we have looked at aerial photographs and labelled the human and physical features on some aer4ial views.
YEAR 2
The leaves are turning into beautiful colours and they fall like golden snow as Year 2 completes another productive week!
In Maths, we have reinforced our knowledge of symmetry and delved into mastery in a lot of ways. We have also completed 2-way Carroll diagrams, investigated right angles and, even, looked at ways 2D shapes help us build, design and create forms all around us.
In English, we have focused on ‘ai’ and ‘ay’ digraphs in phonics, as well as looked at nouns and how they are places, names and things. We are surrounded by nouns in our written and spoken language!
We celebrated and investigated Latvia during Topic lessons and found similarities and differences within our diverse Year 2 cohort. Karlis helped us learn about his native culture and we created fact-files based on this and further research.
In ICT, some of us can independently search and login into websites such as Activelearn and Mathsframe, which is huge progress in such a short space of time.
