YEAR 1

This week in Year 1 we have been learning the sounds ‘j’ and ‘v’. We have also been writing lists, adding labels to pictures and reading and writing captions. In Maths, we have been learning the pairs of numbers that make 5 and 6. We are also learning how to add by counting on. In Science, we have thought about all the things our bodies can do and we are beginning to name some animal body parts. In Topic, we have sorted houses into old and new and we have learned the names of rooms in the house. In PSHE, we have spoken about who our friends are. We all have lots of friends!

YEAR 2

Another week in Year 2 over! We have had an interesting week and we are seeing progress already.

In English, we have focused on ‘magic ‘e’ words’, the days of the week and our handwriting. In Maths, we have been revising number bonds to 10 and quickening up our speed – one child was 3 times quicker by the end of the lesson! We also tackled bonds to 20, and 100 in some cases.

In Science, we completed our first labelled scientific diagrams and even inspected a large, solidified dragonfly that had once been alive. In Topic, we continued our ‘Around the World’ theme by learning about South Korea – we coloured flags and tried our hand at Taekwondo outside!

Finally, in PSHE we learnt who our friends in school were and what makes one. The opinion was unanimous – you have to be a good egg!
