YEAR 1

In Year 1 this week, we have been learning how to build and write sentences using coloured cues to help us with sentence structure. In Maths we have been learning our number bonds to 10 using counting objects, our fingers and ten sticks. Then we used what we have learned to solve missing number problems.

In Science we have been naming animal body parts. We made birds and elephants from plasticine and then we labelled the body parts of our animal. As you can see from our photos, we made some great animals!

In Topic, we have been learning about human features – city, town, school, house etc. We went on a walk around the local area to find human features near school. We found lots of flats, playgrounds and a shop

YEAR 2

In Year 2, we have had a very productive week as we progress through the new academic year!

In English, we have focused on ‘oo’ words that sound like a cuckoo! We have also looked at rhyme, poetry, as we complete, and attempt to memorise the Tiger, Monkey and Elephant poems. If we can, then we will be able to produce a 12 poem from memory! Is it possible?

In Maths, we have completed three mastery checkpoints as we tackled number bonds, doubles to 15 and addition/subtraction facts! One of our pupils could double up to 4-digit numbers; he is a Maths genius, indeed.

In Science, we looked at stages of growth in human beings (which tied in with our PSHE family work) and that of a butterfly as it went from an egg to chrysalis to caterpillar and so on. In Topic, we learnt about China and had some expert input from Yinuo via Zoom. Check out our Chinese New Year masks!

The weeks are going quickly but the progress is palpable. Well done, guys!
