Year 1

Another week has passed by in Year 1 and it's been amazing to see everybody continuing to work hard. Every piece of work that has been received is neat, completed with thought and to a high standard.

In English lessons, we have had a big focus on our phonics this week. We started to read and write with split digraphs including a-e, o-e and u-e. In the beginning it seemed quite tricky but now everyone is confident reading and writing with these sounds. We have also used Seesaw to create sentences using different words. It was fun to see what everyone created!

In Maths, we have started the week by learning how to add 3 numbers together. We learnt that we could find 2 numbers, such as a double, to add together first and then add the last number on. We then used drawings to help us add more than 3 numbers together. These tasks will help us learn multiplication next week!

Well done to everybody who took part in the International Week Challenge. We had great poetry, beautiful singing and stunning Chinese writing. You can view everyone's work on the interactive Padlet wall. I look forward to seeing all of Year 1 next week with the same positive attitudes ready to work for another week.

Year 2

This week Year 2 have engaged with International Week and sent some great videos and photographs to highlight their knowledge and pass it onto others. I have enjoyed them immensely and certainly learned a thing or two!

In Science, we have started the Feeding & Exercise unit and kicked it off with a double-lesson on surviving on a desert island. Year 2 know what the human body needs and how it can, not just survive, but thrive. Bear Grylls would be proud!

In Topic, we have started a new unit entitled Weather & Climate. Our double lesson allowed us to investigate what weather is, what climate is and how they affect us as human beings. Year 2 were able to show how the weather can affect crops/farming, recreation, transport, health and even our school life.

In Maths we have covered some revision topics and in English we read Operation Night Monster – completing the relevant comprehension questions to go with it, as well as linking it to PSHE.
