NURSERY and RECEPTION
Dear parents,
Nursery joined us at the end of last week and will continue to learn with us whilst Mrs. Carol-Anne is covering the Year 1 class as Mrs. Andersen is unwell. We hope to continue to take the children outside into the outdoor learning classroom, so please ensure that your child has:
- A warm waterproof coats
- Wet weather boots
- Waterproof trousers, if you have them
- A change of clothes
Inside, we will continue to base our learning around the Pizza restaurant as the children are really enjoying this theme and the learning opportunities that we are seeing are quite breathtaking. This week we will focus on designing pizza delivery boxes and testing different materials for their insulation capability to see which material is best suited to keeping the pizza warm.
Nursery have shown a great interest in playing doctors so we have set up a small clinic in the classroom with a bed, a waiting area and a reception desk. Through role-play, the children are learning lots of new vocabulary and it is a great opportunity to learn how to work together and share with their friends.
In Mathematics this week we will continue to review 2D shapes and we will be taking the children on a shape hunt around the school grounds. Correct number formation and counting skills will also be covered this week.
Our focus story this week is, Miss Dose the Doctor’s Daughter by Alan Ahlberg. The songs we will be learning are:
