Year One
This week in Year One, we jumped right back into learning. It was nice to see everyone's smiles again!
In English and Science we read, wrote, and talk about seeds and plants. We learnt:
- Seeds travel and land in different places
- How a seed turns into a plant
- How to plant seeds
- The names of different parts of a plant
In Maths, we started to look at money from around the world. We learnt:
- Money looks different all around the world - we even saw Japanese coins
- Coins come in different sizes, colours, shapes, and amounts
- How to add coins using skip counting
- How to add various amounts of money
We look forward to learning more about money and plants next week!
Year Two
Welcome back Year 2! It is wonderful to see all of your happy faces during our online lessons! We celebrated Miranda’s birthday on Wednesday! Happy Birthday to Miranda and thank you to all the boys and girls for making cards! Year 2 have started a new Science Unit. We are learning about Plants. We began by learning the parts of the plant: roots, stem, leaves, petals and anther. We also learned the parts of a tree: roots, trunk, branches and leaves. We examined the parts of the plant in more detail, learning how each part helps the plant to survive. For example, the petals have bright colours to attract insects. We learned the names of some wild and garden plants. Year 2 showed some of the plants growing in pots in their house or in their garden. We can try to plant some seeds at home and learn to take care of our plants. It is great to see how enthusiastic Year 2 are about our new unit. Next week, we look forward to Mindfulness and Well-bring activities.
