Year One "The Ballon Tree"

This week, we read one of Ms. Dunford’s favourite childhood books - The Balloon Tree by Phoebe Gilman. Luckily, the book tied with our topic unit: kings and queens. We read the book several times in order to gather all of the information from the book and fully enjoy the colourful pictures. As a class, we recalled the characters, setting, problem and solution. On Wednesday, we made a balloon tree on our door. On Thursday, we made our own balloon trees using our finger prints.

Year Two "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe"

Year 2 enjoyed reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe from the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. It is a wonderful adventure tale about four children who discover a whole new world inside an old wardrobe! The children had many interesting comments to make about the story!

Dan: “I would like to drink tea with the faun and I want to see the battle.”

Pauline: “My favourite part was when Lucy went into the wardrobe. I do not like the witch.”

Sasha P: “I love all of it!”

Sasha R: “I want to hear about the Lion. I would put flying fish in Narnia!”

Miranda: “I want to fight in the battle.”

Mika: “I want to be the Lion. I want to be Aslan.”

Arina: “Aslan is my favourite because he is a lion.”

Stella: “My favourite part is the battle.”

Mishelle: “My favouirte part is when all the children go into the wardrobe. My favourite characters are Susan and Lucy.”

Apple: “I love when Lucy and Mr Tumnus are having tea. My favourite characters are Lucy, Susan and the witch.”

Jarek: “My favourite part is when Edmund came to the witch’s house.”

Ellie: “My favourite part is Chapter Ten when the spell breaks because that means that Aslan is nearby. My favourite characters are Lucy and Susan.”

Maxim: “I like the battle.”
