Brilliant Book Week

It has been a pleasure this week to see the joy children get from reading. Each class has chosen a book and delved into world that is on the pages inside the book. We have had house events where children have worked together to create Comic books and also each day the children got to drop everything they were doing and were given the opportunity to read. The week ended with our dress up day and this year there was some outstanding outfits. So, a very big thank you to all of the children and parents that took time to create the amazing outfits. To quote Voltaire, ‘Let us read and let us dance—two amusements that will never do any harm to the world’ and we celebrated both of these today.

There will be no school on Monday in recognition of International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This event has now occurred for well over a century, with the first gathering being in 1911 supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Today, International Women's Day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. It is not country, group or organisation specific so I would like to wish all a happy International Women's Day.

Best wishes,

Ryan Hannah
