French is a language that captures a rich culture and history. That explains why it is so popular to learn. You can find French speakers spread around the planet, not only in France but also in many other countries around the world.

March is “Francophone” month and all around the world you can find celebrations dedicated to the promotion of the French language. Our school wasn’t an exception!

While learning French at school we always aim is not only to learn words and grammar, but also to get to know more about the French way of life.

During the last few weeks our Secondary pupils were working on the broad topic “the French way of life”. As part of celebrating French week, we prepared a Presentation for the whole school in the hall.

Year 7 work hard on the topic of “Paris and its places of interest”, and spreading from that they studied “En ville”. They talked about the most beautiful places of the capital of France, and sang a song “Les Champs-Élysées” (with a little help of Year 6 pupils).

Year 8 worked on the topic of French Art. They talked about famous painters, musicians and writers originally from France. In the end of the presentation pupils sang their favorite French song which was performed at Eurovision-2016 “J’ai cherché”.

Year 9 continued our French assembly with talking about the French way of life. French life is filled not only with work and career, but also with a variety of interesting activities. The ability to spend their free time well, accurately reflects the mentality in France. The song that represents this mentality the most is “Je veux”. The Year 9 pupils beautifully played the Piano and Ocarina, accompanied by Shakers, whilst singing Je Veux like angels.

The French Celebrations were enjoyed by everyone, and it was a good opportunity to learn something new about the idyllic country where French is spoken.
