Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely break during the half term holiday.
Firstly, I would like to thank the teachers and TAs for their hard work this week. As promised when I arrived at EIS SW, improvements in the quality of your child’s education are being introduced across the school. The first week of March has already seen teachers Ms Pollard, Ms Pretorius and Mr Marsh begin the process of training other teachers on the EIS Virtual Learning Environment Canvas; more news on how this will add to your child’s learning experience later in the year.
I would like to thank Ms Greyling for the hard work she has put in over the half term break to begin updating the appearance of the school. As some of you will have noticed the lobby area has been re-vamped into an inviting seating area for both parents and students and this will be followed by new display boards celebrating students excellent work. As you can see from the photograph below, the improvements have encouraged students to sit and read during break times, which is wonderful to see.
In Secondary, Year 9 have been thinking about their IGCSE options for next year. Year 10 students will also have the opportunity to participate in several other activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and outside visits to enhance the IGCSE programme.
In the meantime we are planning outside visits for later this spring and summer for all students in Secondary – more news to follow.
Finally, two dates for your diary:
Wednesday 18th March, 8.30am, will be a coffee morning for parents. I will be available to answer any questions, tell you more about exciting developments coming up across the school and feedback the results of the parental survey. Please come if you are able.
Friday 20th March – Year 2 coffee morning.
Please be aware that Monday is a public holiday to celebrate International Women’s Day, so we will see you back in school on Tuesday 10th March.
