Snow, snow, snow…….

We were so excited to be able to frolic in the snow in our outdoor area. Look at our beautiful photos and experience our pure enjoyment of the day.

This week Early Years have been looking at the changing seasons. We have observed that the days are much shorter and it gets dark soon after we get home from school, because we are now in winter.

We spoke about what we would need to read in a dark room. We looked at different ways of lighting our homes if the power goes off e.g. candles, oil lamps, and torches. We discussed beautiful pictures of the city lit up with all the twinkling lights in Moscow at night.

We thought about what we will see in the dark sky on a clear night. We enjoyed the story ‘How to catch a star’ by Oliver Jeffers. In the story a little boy tries to catch his own star as he desperately wants a star to be his friend. It is a motivational story that shows the importance of working hard and persevering to get that special thing you want. We were able to recall some of the details shared in the story.

We are very excited to showcase our art to you this week. We learned how to marble. We made a marbled sky for our beautiful star that we found.

We made our own salt dough stars, which we will paint next week, when they are all dry. We will use these stars to decorate our Christmas tree.

Next week we will continue with ‘How to catch a Star”. We will extend our adventure into space and explore the wonders of space travel.
