Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of the Autumn term and the Christmas break, EYFS have been busy learning about the nativity story and why we celebrate Christmas. They have been making simple Christmas decorations for the classroom and practicing their song ‘I’m a dancing Christmas Tree’ with Miss Katya during their music lesson and in class. We did our first recording of their performance this week, and without fail EYFS managed to put smiles on everyone’s faces! We also had another birthday to celebrate this month- Ana turned 4 and is very proud to be a ‘small, big girl’.
In language and literacy, we have learned the “Nn” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘n’, singing the ‘Hear the aeroplane’ song, and finding things that begin with ‘n’. Children love learning through song and have looked at the prepositions ‘on’, ‘in’ and ‘under’ this week.
In Numeracy, the children have been looking at simple 2D shapes, revisiting the names of the shapes and identifying them. We also identified the patterns in shape sequences- looking at what stays the same and what is different.
EYFS have also enjoyed playing on their new push- bikes and chalkboard set up in their outdoor play area. They have been creating their own games with the outdoor equipment from throwing beanbags in the hoops to the snake game with the skipping rope.
Wishing everyone a lovely, restful weekend!
EYFS Team.
RUSSIAN
In Russian, EYFS focused on basic sounds and learned about vowels О, У and symbolic representation of them, practising their writing and reading skills. Kids also learned a lot of words that begin with those vowels. The rules of phonics help kids make connections between written letters and letter combinations and word sounds.
